Oh, Precious Weekend. I've missed you, diary. I've been trying to write on paper. But I hate to look at my own handwriting, and type is smaller, making me feel like my complaints are shorter and less of a burden to the poor reader. So back to typing I go.I think I want a typewriter. My mom has one, but I'd like an old one. Mostly I just want to skip class for a cigarette (can you crave something when you've never had before?), some brandy (same question?), and a Secret Santa party. And mostly, these days, when I read books, I just end up envious of the characters. Both of those books are about freshmen in high school, so it strikes a very timely chord; I've just been brooding over my largely uneventful and unenjoyable year. These kids have life-changing experiences and all I get are more reasons to want to be anywhere but here. And sudden cravings for tobacco and alcohol. These books are bad influences. Wah wah wah, nothing fun ever happens. Blah blah whinecakes. Mr. GQ was last night. It's a sort of pageant for boys. Do they do that everywhere? I'm not sure. It's fun, because they're all hams, and most of them are quite good looking, and you can admire their good looks without feeling guilty that most of them are probably jerks, because you're getting extra credit points and that's totally the only reason you're even there! Things I learned: That a boy named Dawson, who I always thought was just very tall, is actually a celebrity within our school. That having a sense of humor and shaking your ass in a Village People costume and being shirtless even though we just SAW you shirtless in the swimsuit competition is a "disgrace to the school." That the boy who sang a sweet song about wanting to spend the rest of his life with you will, in fact, "bang anything that is bangable." That the dumb, hot jock in my Spanish class has a melt-worthy voice and is shy. That I am even more shallow than I thought. It feels like summer today, and driving home, it was blindingly green outside. Green's my new favorite color. 2004-04-16 @ 7:38 p.m. |
