Pow, Zoom

Good evening, and now for an in-depth look at the story all of Atlanta is talking about.

Ok, maybe not. But still, I almost died!

Ok, maybe not, again. But seriously, a freshman who was on my team last year had a loaded gun on him at school until 11 this morning. Two students reported him and he was arrested. It was the top story on all the local news channels. My friend got interviewed for CBS. It scares me that I probably walked within 10 feet of this creep (no tortured soul there, he's just a jerk redneck) at some point this morning; who's to say that I didn't shove past him on the staircase or stand near him in the lunch line? It's scary to think about, and it's odd that I'm not more freaked than I am. Just a dull sort of, "Hmm, so this is high school" feeling. How sad, that in today's society, a kid with a loaded gun in a school barely gets a second glance. It's the same with other news stories; after so many suicide bombings, car wrecks, fires, school shootings, and freak accidents, you become numb to the fact that actual people with actual lives have died. It must be hard for news anchors, having to muster up the genuine-looking-somber-face-of-doom. It's just a line on a teleprompter. No big deal, happens every day.

This has been your weekly message of joy and inspiration.

I got a binder, the Fab 5 now grace the top right corner. Speaking of fab, Sammie is. I lurve her; she caught Lauren and Stephen so off guard today. "Hmm, now I don't feel stupid anymore." *seconds pass* "Hey...hey! Lauren, she just dissed you." Bwah.

Class tonight. My first attempt at an abstract painting was a mess, because trying (trying, mind you) to make a realistic face is not abstract. Or I was "thinking too hard." Something. So I tried again, and came up with a variety of random shapes. I actually think it looks pretty cool. The teacher said it looks "musical;" I say it looks like teen girl Hi-liter doodles on crack. Maybe that will be the title.

Well lookie there, 2 AM and my algebra hasn't even been looked at. I spy with my little eye, the beginning of a very tedious pattern!
